Hitachino Nest "Sunbathing Owl"

The recipe was created by two extraordinary brewmasters: Kouji Tani, Kiuchi Brewery, Japan & Michael Jordan, head brewmaster at Engkanto Brewery, Philippines

Malts: Kaneko Golden, Mikamo Golden*, Munich and Wheat malt
Fruits: Original calamansi** from the Philippines
Hops: Sorachi Ace, Ibuki hops and Chinook Dry-Hopped with Amarillo and Sansho pepper.

The citrus character is quite unique, and its acidity plays very well with the tingling sensation of the Sansho Peppers. <\em>( Tasting notes by Graham Haverfield, Division Manager

** Original calamansi from the Philippines:
It has a strong floral citrusy scent that permeates the air as soon as you open it, similar to the scent of a freshly peeled orange or tangerine.
Its distinct flavor is far more intense than that of its relatives, the mandarin orange and other citrus fruit.

* Mikamo Golden Malt:
A variety that was registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1987. MIKAMO Golden is written in KANJI as “bijo kogane’(beautiful brewing golden), which means to brew beautifully like gold.
The cultivation of KANEKO Golden began in 1900. MIKAMO Golden is a newer variety than KANEKO Golden.
MIKAMO Golden is often grown in Ibaraki Prefecture where our brewery is located.
