Brasserie Artisanale La Rulles was founded by Gregory Verhelst, brewmaster and malter, in June 2000 in the small village of Rulles situated in the south of the province of Louxembourg (La Gaume). His vision was a brewery that typified "Passion, Quality and Uniqueness" Within a few brews, the brewery exploded in notoriety for their unique and delicious beers.
He chose the village of Rulles because of its exceptional water quality coming from the forest d'Anlier. The water is not filtered or treated and contains very little minerals. In 2003 the brewery was able to add a new warehouse to increase production. In 2006 they added new facilities to accommodate the growth in production, including open fermenters, a dedicated filtration tank, and a new bottling machine. The new brewery can produce 30 hectoliters at a time.
