Yarlington Mill:

CAMRA National Cider and Perry Championships - Gold /Champion Cider of Britain 2002

A medium cider made from a bittersweet apple that produces a rich, full-bodied, somewhat cloudy cider. Sweetness when young will give way once finished toward fullness. Honey, dark fruit and spirit on the palate with pleasant bitterness and tannins on finish. Some phenols (Band-Aid?) apparent but sweetness competes with it well.

The Yarlington Mill apple is a favourite with cider makers because of its outstanding taste. It originates from deepest Somerset but is now found throughout the cider makers kingdom. The well sized red and yellow apples are ready to harvest in late November. The juice is slow to ferment which produces a rich, red, medium cider.

Denis Gwatkin, proprietor
"A traditional farmhouse cider and perry, all made from local old fashioned types of apples and pears. No additives of any kind. Made in oak barrels and left to mature until ready to drink, all the ciders are still as they would have been in the olden days. We aim to make cider as it would have been done hundreds of years ago, to the modern way and without spoiling it.."
