On a recent trip to the US, we were delighted to be able to visit 3 of the pubs which had bought our beer, and it was great to see people so knowledgeable about cask ales in the US. Such people are few and far between in Denmark (we can count them on the digits of one hand). So far, feedback has been very positive, which tickles us pink! We hope that more people both in the US and in Denmark will learn the joys of cask-conditoned real ale. If you happen to be one of the lucky (?) few who taste WinterCoat on cask.
WinterCoat beer is brewed on a used 8 hl (800 litre) system purchased in England. The first brew was officially released for sale on September 5, 2003. The brew house is situated in the former barn, the 4 fermenting vessels stand in what once was a stall for the farm's 2 horses, and at present the 12 conditioning tanks are housed in a 40-foot refrigerated container. We have recently completed the process of turning the old cow byre and the rest of the outbuilding into brewery space as well, including a very cozy, panelled tap room with a gorgeous second-hand bar, where we round off brewery tours with a couple of hours of beer tasting. We are now in the final stages of furnishing our B&B in the old hayloft.
