The Barrels:

The Barrels is the flagship of the Wye Valley Brewery, and was its home for many years until April 2002. It is a former coaching inn built in the 18th century situated at the east end of St Owen Street, Hereford. Part of the building is actually formed from the old city wall.

A down-to-earth drinking establishment, it is one of the last multi-roomed pubs in town and attracts an eclectic mix of clientele who come for the lively, friendly atmosphere, and excellent quality beer (the Barrels always sells the complete range of Wye Valley beers). No night out in Hereford is complete without a visit to the Barrels!

Other features include a large walled and flagstoned yard at the rear, which is used all year round, even in the winter with the aid of a heated marquee. Every August Bank Holiday weekend, the Barrels host a major beer festival in aid of local charities. This is a very popular event which includes not only a wide range of beers, but also an extensive programme of live entertainment.

The Barrels is Cask Marque accredited, and was awarded Herefordshire CAMRA’s Pub of the Year in 1992, 1996 and 2003.

Rose and Lion:

The ‘Rosie’ as it is known locally is situated just off Bromyard High Street at 5, New Road. It was built in 1823, becoming a public house in 1848, and as far as we know, it is the only pub in England bearing that name.
