It is a family run pub, renowned in the town for its warm welcome and fine quality beer. Landlady Fran was described in a recent Good Beer Guide as being ‘a top notch landlady’ and the Rosie ‘sets the standard for the town’s pubs’.

The interior is traditionally laid out with flagstones in the public bar and a comfortable, homely lounge which are known to the regulars as the House of Commons and the House of Lords respectively. The attractive garden encompasses a fine fish pond.

The Rose and Lion fields numerous teams competing in crib, darts, and cricket to name but a few. Every year towards the end of December, the Rose & Lion celebrates ‘Parsnip Day’ where the rent for the garden is paid to brewery boss Peter Amor by landlady Fran in the form of parsnips. This is now a well established event and is a fun night not to be missed! There is a small car park, though plenty of off street parking is available.

The Rose and Lion is Cask Marque accredited and was awarded Herefordshire CAMRA’s Pub of the Year in 2001.
